BREAKING NEWS: Armed Carjacking Suspect Killed in Shootout With California Police
VALLEJO, Calif. β July 20, 2026 β An armed carjacking suspect was shot and killed Monday afternoon after exchanging gunfire with police during a traffic stop in Vallejo, California, according to authorities.
The incident began after officers responded to reports of an armed carjacking on Ryder Street at approximately 12:20 p.m. Investigators later located the suspected vehicle near the intersection of Broadway and Mahogany Drive, where officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

According to the Vallejo Police Department, the suspect allegedly refused officers’ commands and opened fire shortly after the vehicle stopped. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said no officers were injured during the exchange.
Images from the scene showed the suspect’s SUV riddled with bullet holes as investigators secured the area and collected evidence. The Solano County District Attorney’s Office has joined the investigation, which is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
