BREAKING: Powerful 7.5 Earthquake Strikes Venezuela

A devastating earthquake measuring 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela on June 24, becoming one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the country in recent decades. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the powerful quake occurred less than a minute after an earlier 7.2-magnitude earthquake, causing widespread panic and destruction across several regions.

The earthquakes were centered west of the capital city, Caracas, but strong shaking was felt across much of the country. Thousands of residents rushed from homes, offices, and apartment buildings as buildings swayed violently and power outages were reported in several areas.

Emergency crews, firefighters, and rescue teams were immediately deployed to search for survivors trapped beneath collapsed buildings. Authorities reported dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries, while officials warned that the number of victims could continue to rise as rescue operations proceed.

Several buildings in and around Caracas suffered serious damage, and transportation and communication services were disrupted. Hospitals became overwhelmed as injured residents arrived for treatment, while emergency shelters were opened for displaced families.

The U.S. Geological Survey warned that the disaster could result in significant casualties and widespread damage. Aftershocks continued to affect the region, prompting authorities to urge residents to stay away from damaged structures and follow emergency instructions.

The disaster has drawn international attention, with several countries offering assistance and humanitarian support as Venezuela begins recovery efforts. Experts say the earthquakes are among the strongest to strike the country in more than a century.
