Israel’s security situation continues to evolve rapidly following a new wave of reported missile strikes attributed to Iran, according to international media and Israeli authorities. Officials say multiple impacts were recorded within minutes, prompting heightened alerts across several regions.
Emergency sirens sounded in numerous communities as Israel’s air defense systems attempted to intercept incoming projectiles. Authorities placed emergency services on high alert amid concerns that the escalation could trigger a broader regional response involving both Israel and the United States.
One of the most severe incidents occurred in Beit Shemesh, a city located west of Jerusalem, where a ballistic missile caused extensive destruction. Medical officials confirmed that at least nine people were killed and 28 others were injured in the strike.
Among the wounded, two individuals remain in serious condition, two sustained moderate injuries, and the remaining victims suffered light wounds. Rescue teams worked through damaged structures and debris to locate survivors and provide urgent medical assistance.
Officials reported that many of the victims were inside a public shelter when the missile struck. The force of the explosion caused a structural collapse, trapping people beneath rubble and complicating rescue operations.
Jerusalem District Police Chief Avshalom Peled stated that the missile directly impacted a synagogue, causing the building to collapse onto a shelter situated beneath it. Authorities described the incident as a direct hit and said most, if not all, of the casualties were inside the protected area at the time.
Security forces remain deployed as investigations continue. Residents in affected areas have been urged to stay close to protected spaces while emergency assessments and response operations remain ongoing.
